Diagnostic and Imaging Guidelines

SCHEDULE:
Monday – Sunday (24/7)

X-Ray Preparations

Please call the department to inquire (1) one day before the scheduled procedure.


For Barium Enema and Intravenous Pyelography (IVP) needs 8 hours fasting before the procedure. On the day of the procedure report to the Diagnostics and Imaging Department.

CT-Scan Preparations

Please call the department to inquire (1) one day before the scheduled procedure.

All the following test must undergo (8) Hours fasting:
WHOLE ABDOMEN CT SCAN (DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CONTRAST)
UPPER ABDOMEN CT SCAN

All procedures below must undergo (4) hours fasting:
CRANIAL WITH CONTRAST
CHEST WITH CONTRAST
PARANASAL SINUSES WITH CONTRAST
TEMPORAL BONE WITH CONTRAST
NASOPHARYNX WITH CONTRAST
CRANIAL WITH FACIAL BONE WITH CONTRAST
NECK/CERVICAL WITH CONTRAST

All procedure must have Full Bladder prior to exam:
LOWER ABDOMEN CT SCAN AND STONOGRAM


***Other procedures not listed no need to have fasting

Ultrasound Preparations

Please call the department to inquire one day before the scheduled procedure.

All procedures below must undergo (6-8) hours fasting. Water is allowed for intake.
(Light meal is allowed for patients who had undergone cholecystectomy):
WHOLE ABDOMEN ULTRASOUND
UPPER ABDOMEN ULTRASOUND
HEPATOBILIARY TREE (HBT) ULTRASOUND
RENAL DOPPLER ULTRASOUND

All patients needs to have a full bladder before the following procedure:
KIDNEYS AND URINARY BLADDER ULTRASOUND (KUB)
KUB AND PROSTRATE
PROSTRATE ONLY
LOWER ABDOMEN

Mammography Preparations

Patients should be 35 years old before you can undergo the procedure. Those who are below the age limit should have recent or previous diagnosis of Breast CA, family history and/or a physician’s request.

Ideal time to have your mammogram is during the 5th to 7th menstrual day period.

Reminder: On the day of the examination, make sure patients have not worn any products such as the following:
(Deodorant, powder, lotion with glitters or “tawas”) as these will cause radiopaque artifacts that may alter the interpretation of the results.
